Marc Chagall National Museum

One of the most extraordinary museums on the Riviera, dedicated to Chagall’s dreamlike Biblical works in deep blues, golds, and jewel tones. The museum itself was designed with Chagall’s involvement and feels almost meditative. It has quiet gardens, soft Provençal light, and monumental paintings that inspire awe. It is a beautiful counterpoint to the glamour of the coast.

Castle Hill is where Nice becomes surreal. Climb just before sunset for sweep- ing views over the terracotta roofs of Vieux Nice, the curve of the Baie des Anges, and the pastel façades along the Promenade des Anglais. Locals bring wine and socca, couples linger on the stone walls, and the entire city glows pink and gold as the sun disappears into the Mediterranean.
